Trend invest in future with CNC 3 Axis Router

July 11, 2007

Trend Marine Products Ltd announced today they have invested in a 3 axis routing machine which is capable of a multitude of functions. The machine supports engineering requirements for the future. Its primary purpose at Trend will be to allow complex shaped perspex to be cut to tight tolerances. Another function, and perhaps more importantly, will be to allow Trend to take CAD data from the customer and machine the plugs and tools for pop out doors, transom doors and roof systems in-house.

The key objectives for this purchase were speed of tooling new bigger parts to accurate data that match CNC plugged boats, thereby reducing the need for splashes and mouldings to be sent around the world. Crucially, it also reduces the delivery time to the customer.

To get this unit up and running Trend have undertaken a “Lean” initiative within the factory and built an enclosed sound proof room with its own individual extraction system and built a CNC work centre from which to run the system. The package is linked directly to the design department thus allowing immediate transfer of data for swift and speedy cutting.

“Having now installed the machine and run it on various Perspex operations it’s now successfully on its first pop out door tooling path. The machine has added extra value for our customers and ensures a ‘right first time’ approach throughout our business”, says Jeremy Usher, Trend’s European Sales Manager.
